Indian Carrot Sweet

Fresh carrots cooked down with milk, ghee, and sugar, then set and cut into perfect bite-sized cubes.

Made with freshly shredded carrots slowly cooked with milk, ghee, and sugar, Gajar Halwa develops a rich dairy flavor while keeping the unmistakable taste and texture of carrot throughout.

Instead of serving it loose by the spoonful, we set the finished halwa and cut it into neat bite-sized cubes — making one of India’s most loved desserts easy to enjoy as a piece of mithai.

What is Gajar Halwa?

Gajar means carrot, and Gajar Halwa (also known as Gajrela or Carrot Halwa) is one of India’s most recognizable desserts.

Fresh carrots are shredded and cooked down with milk, ghee, and sugar until everything comes together into a rich, concentrated halwa. The slow cooking develops the sweetness of the carrots while giving the dessert its signature flavor and texture.

Our version takes that familiar dessert and turns it into individual pieces you can pick up, share, gift, or add to an assorted mithai box.

What Makes Ours Different?

Real shredded carrots, cooked down properly and made to eat by the piece.

Made fresh at Chowpatty, you can still see and taste the carrot throughout each cube. The bite-sized format gives you the character of freshly cooked Gajar Halwa with the convenience of a piece of mithai.

It’s familiar enough for anyone who grew up eating it and easy to discover for someone trying Indian carrot halwa for the first time.

What is Halwa?

Halwa is a traditional Indian dessert made by slowly cooking ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, or dry fruits with ghee and sugar until they develop a rich, concentrated flavor and distinctive texture.

While Gajar Halwa may be the most familiar, halwa can be made in countless varieties across India. This assortment brings together five of our favorites:

Made Fresh in Small Batches

Real ingredients, traditional technique, and no unnecessary fillers.

Each variety is made fresh at Chowpatty in small batches, allowing the individual ingredient — whether carrot, dudhi, beet, chikoo, or dry fruit — to remain the focus of the halwa.

It’s a collection rooted in traditional Indian sweet-making, while also giving you a few varieties you don't see in every mithai shop.
