Handmade Indian Stuffed Flatbread
Thin handmade flatbread filled with sweet tuver dal, cardamom, saffron, ghee, and sugar — best served hot off the griddle with plenty of ghee.
Made from a blend of white and wheat flour, each flatbread is individually filled with a sweet mixture of tuver dal (pigeon peas), elaichi (cardamom), saffron, ghee, and sugar before being flattened thin and cooked on the griddle.
The result is a lightly toasted exterior wrapped around a rich, fragrant filling, with the nuttiness of tuver dal balanced by sugar, warm cardamom, saffron, and ghee.
What is a Sweet Tuver Dal Flatbread?
Tuver dal, also known as pigeon peas, is commonly used in Indian cooking, but here it becomes the base of a sweet filling.
The cooked dal is combined with sugar, ghee, elaichi, and saffron, then stuffed inside a thin flour dough and flattened before cooking.
It brings together two things at the heart of Indian cooking — fresh flatbread and a sweet, aromatic filling — in every bite.
What Makes Ours Different?
Handmade, thin, and filled from edge to edge.
Each piece is individually stuffed and flattened so you get the right balance of flatbread and sweet dal filling instead of a thick, dough-heavy bite.
Made fresh at Chowpatty, the combination of tuver dal, cardamom, saffron, and ghee gives it a flavor completely different from an everyday savory flatbread.
Best Served
Hot off the griddle with tons of ghee.
Warm it directly on a tava or griddle until heated through, then finish generously with ghee. The heat brings out the cardamom and saffron while the melted ghee adds even more richness to the sweet filling.
